The Waste We Make: A Look Back at Waste and How Recycling Can be a Work From Home Business Opportunity

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

A couple days ago the blog post was about the waste the average non-recycling person creates every day to illustrate the sheer potential there is in a home business centered around business waste..  I made a note of everything I threw away for a whole day.  Here’s an abbreviated list.

•    Empty tube of toothpaste
•    Coffee filter
•    Coffee grounds
•    8 Sugar packets
•    Empty bottle of coffee creamer
•    2 Styrofoam cups
•    Yogurt cup
•    Plastic spoon
•    Plastic fork
•    Plastic knife
•    Plastic Bag
•    Bottle of water
•    Bag of chips
•    Granola bar wrapper
•    11 Printed pages and the ink to print them
•    4 paper towels
•    Empty carton of milk
•    Leftover food
•    Empty bag of vegetables
•    Empty can of corn
•    Packaging from chicken
•    Empty glass spice bottle
•    2 Beer bottles
•    1 Bag of popcorn

Now that’s quite the pile of trash…all of it simply thrown away and forgotten.  But in some way, every single bit of trash I listed could have been disposed of in a better, safer, and more cost efficient way.  Considering this single day’s worth of waste one individual produced, think about an entire business and how much waste it’s many individuals could collectively create.

Without recycling, that’s a lot of opportunity gone to waste.  But it’s also where Environmental Waste Solutions affiliates come in.  With the sheer amount of waste a single business can produce, the cost involved becomes painfully obvious if action isn’t taken to save on waste management.

By approaching businesses with the simple knowledge of how to make the most of business waste, and how save thousands of dollars whenever it comes time to pay for waste management, EWS affiliates profit every month.

Some Time for Yourself

Sometimes you just want to get away from it all. Don’t you? Or maybe you just need to take a personal day. Well, unfortunately, in today’s world that’s not always possible. Sorry…..

But wait!

There’s hope. It doesn’t end there. You don’t have to settle for the daily grind—and one of the solutions for getting out of it is an unlikely one. If you’ve been reading our blog at all in the past year or so you’ll know the answer—trash. If it smells, it sells—and here are some suggestions on how you would be able to take advantage of recycling as a business waste consultant.

Restaurants: You wouldn’t believe how much biomass restaurant’s throw out every day, let alone every year. We can’t fault them for throwing out the food, because it’s not like they can serve old food, but there’s more to be done with bio-waste than simply stuffing it into a dumpster for raccoons. More and more advances are being made to take advantage of waste produced by businesses such as restaurants. From alternative fuel to composting, the opportunities are there to be taken advantage of.
Factories: Factories create tons of waste every year—like scrap metal. Chances are a lot of that waste can be recycled and used within the same industry. No matter what the materials are—you’d be surprised by how much there is to recycle and reuse.

Office Complexes: Every year businesses create tons of waste. More often than not they cart off all of it to the landfills when recycling is actually much more efficient, much less expensive, and just as easy. At the same time, many businesses can save money by embracing
green business initiatives —and we all know that small businesses are always looking to save money, especially in this economy.

So why not break away from the grind and take advantage of the opportunities that recycling can provide for ambitious small business owners? The list of opportunities to earn money from recycling doesn’t end with our small list. EWS affiliates can help businesses save money by recycling and earn money while doing it—and the opportunities are as varied as the businesses we come across every day.

It can be a better world

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Months ago, we wrote a post about what the world would be like if it recycling didn’t exist. We like (or we are afraid) to think that it wouldn’t be pretty– at all. Our communities would eventually be covered in landfills, climate change would be accelerated, and trash would be an everyday feature dotting the many landscapes of our towns and cities. Picture any Hollywood movie set in a dystopian future, with newspapers, debris, and other refuse as common as virtually any other everyday object. Now, we know that all of that is merely speculation, but without recycling– we do know of certain very important changes that would, without a doubt, change the way we live our lives.

For example, without recycling metals across the world would face depletion. A Yale study, reported on by Mongabay.com
says, “even the full extraction of metals from the Earth’s crust and extensive recycling programs may not meet future demand if all nations begin to use the same services enjoyed in developed nations.” That study also discovered that “for many metals, the average rate of use per person continues to rise. As a result, the report says, even the more plentiful metals may face similar depletion risks in the future.” The study goes onto explain that looking at metals this way, is a different approach to recycling — not only looking at the immediate results but looking at the entire life cycle of a product– from its very birth as a raw material to its end as either waste or a recycled product.

Thinking of waste and the future of recycling this way can easily put everything into perspective– if we want to continue living the way we live, we NEED recycling! And communities all over the world are going to need experts with the knowledge necessary to find the best and most efficient way to get it done more efficiently– saving money as well as the environment.

Your Dumpster’s a Piggy Bank, Break It Open

Why do you think recycling is still around? When driving down the street early in the morning, you still see garbage cans but you also still see those iconic blue recycling bins. In the same way, in offices and work places across the country—people continue to recycling all they can. Whether it’s just paper, plastic, glass, or everything that can possibly be recycled—it’s still getting done, and that’s important.

When it comes down to recycling—it works, and that’s all there really is to it. All over the place there are people who ask questions like “Does recycling really help the planet?”, “Does recycling really make a difference in my small community”, and “can one person really make a difference.” Well the answer to those questions is yes, yes, and a definite yes—especially for businesses of all sizes. Recyclingdoes make a difference.

By making a concentrated effort to recycle, we can help reduce landfills, contamination, and save precious natural resources. What’s even better is that through recycling, businesses can do these things and even more—they can save money and take advantage of green business initiatives while they helpthe environment. In all honesty, being wasteful is more expensive in the long run than being green and efficient. Instead of trucking countless loads of waste to the landfill to be forgotten forever, businesses can instead get as much mileage out of their “Waste” as possible—and Environmental Waste Solutions has made great progress showing businesses precisely how.

No matter what way you look at it, it’s clear—recycling is an opportunity that too many pass up and too few benefit from. The only question we’re left asking is, “why?”

Efficient Waste Management and Recycling is just like yard work…

Friday, December 5th, 2008

It’s that time of year again, and if you live anywhere where there are seasons you will most likely notice the leaves falling from the trees. They may have been neatly raked and stuffed into bags, or perhaps they’re just sitting in the yard creating one big autumnal carpet to cover the grass. If in fall raking tends to be a weekly concern for you, you will know what we’re talking about. Otherwise—hopefully you’ll be able to see the connection.

At Home Business Opportunities

Many homeowners who have waded into a sea of leaves at some point in their lives have ultimately turned to the all-powerful leaf blower. While it may look fun, we’ve all realized that blowing leaves actually stops being fun after about 30 seconds. Either way, many will have noticed that some fancy leaf blowers (and lawn mowers) have that handy function that will turn everything into compost. But what typically happens is usually one or more of three things:

Recycling and waste management works in the exact same way. Who wants to fool around with something complicated, especially when there are more important things to be done? More often than not, paying someone to do the dirty work is the easiest way. (Almost) In the same way, the easiest way to get rid of waste while making the most of it is to depend on environmental waste solutions, except instead of costing clients money EWS saves them money instead.

Regardless of the economy… waste must be dealt with.

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

We’ve watched the debates and we’ve read the papers. While some people think that everything will change, others think it will be just more of the same. But regardless of how the country or the economy changes, the influences of America’s new president still will not affect one key aspect of life.

At Home Business Opportunities
Both senators in the presidential race said that they will do something about environmental change, the economy, and much more. We know (or we think we know) where they stand on the issues and we hear speculation on how their differences on the issues will affect the country.

One thing that cannot and will not change is the one fact of life that hasn’t changed since the dawn of time. It may sound dramatic but it’s true—we will always have to find some way to deal with trash.

No matter what type of solid waste businesses produce—EWS can make sure that they don’t waste money in the process. In a day where nothing ever seems to be set in stone—clients across the country have learned how nice it is to be able to rely on savings.

In many cases, men and women across the country went to the ballots with the future of their job or business in mind. They wonder, “what does the economy hold for me?” Or, “What will I be doing in 10 years?” EWS stands as one concrete reminder that some things don’t change, and in some cases—that isn’t always a bad thing. No matter what happens for businesses large and small, both EWS affiliates and their clients will always have one thing to depend on and one clear way to profit and save.

The ease of networking

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Our lives are filled with technology – such as blackberries, email, and social networking websites. They are all aspects of our culture that demonstrate every day how easy it is to communicate. This simply demonstrates how easy it is to get in touch and remain connected with each other. In reality, this is where EWS comes into play. Through effective networking and communication – EWS affiliates can realize a six figure salary.

The time has never been more appropriate to take advantage of what our culture offers us. 10 years ago, EWS affiliates could never have realized the same possibilities that lie before them today. It has never been easier to become connected and develop meaningful partnerships that are sure to not only end up in profit, but in a professional relationship that will prove to be valuable for years to come.

Networking is not just easy, it is extremely easy, especially when there’s money to be saved. One client is bound to know another client, and that client will surely know another interested client. This entire relationship results in a dynamic where the EWS affiliate is in a position to develop relationships with a handful of clients. What does that mean? That means, that the EWS affiliate is capable of seeing residual income from a variety of sources, by simply taking advantage of how incredibly easy it is to communicate.

Once one client discovers the value in EWS waste consulting, the relationship will continue to develop into one that will continually realize profits for the EWS affiliate. Combine this with the stress-free lifestyle found in working at home, and potential EWS affiliates are offered an opportunity that is hard to pass up.
