In a Labor Daze? Get Out With a Green Business Opportunity

labor day 300x200 In a Labor Daze? Get Out With a Green Business Opportunity business recycling recycling

Labor Day - A perfect example of why you need a work at home business.

So, yesterday was   Labor Day. Did you have it off? Maybe you did and maybe you didn’t – but the question begs asking, “are you in a labor daze?” Do you go to work day and day out only to sit down at night and wonder, “what am I accomplishing?”  Maybe a change of career is what you need.

Years ago (more than I can even count), I felt the same exact way. I was tired of work work work, without the payoff that I was looking for, and I figured that the only way to truly get everything I put into my work would be to be my own boss.

I tried making it in one business – it didn’t work and I tried making it in another – it didn’t pay off. But finally I looked around. I saw all the trash that gets hauled away and realized that businesses waste money every day when it comes to business waste such as unused materials, common recyclables, and industrial waste.

I had it – not only a business opportunity that works, but a green business opportunity that helped businesses recycle and save money. Every business creates waste, every business wants to save money, and by earning half of what each business saved on the cost of their waste – they paid nothing out of pocket. It was a win-win for everyone.

Have you succeeded with a work at home business? Or maybe you’ve started a similar green business. Share your stories in the comments, and maybe we’ll delve deeper into what you have to say in a future post.

Leaves, Trash, and Opportunity

A business opportunity based on recycling is kind of like raking leaves

We’re not too sure about your families, but for many of us – the earliest beginnings of Fall bring to mind a number of traditions. From yearly family outings we squeeze into the last days of summer to the first family activities that are distinctly reserved for autumn, seasonal traditions are everywhere– but around here, the coming of fall brings to mind one distinct tradition, raking leaves.

Depending on your side of the country, not only will you begin to see leaves peppering the ground, but the thought will cross your mind that those leaves will, eventually, need to be disposed of, and that’s where the connection to waste is (you knew it was coming). Raking leaves is just like taking care of business waste. Without raking, your yard’s a mess. Without recycling, your business – and potentially your finances— can be a mess as well.

What are leaves? They look good, they smell good – but essentially, they’re trash. Left on your lawn, they’ll make it look bad and they’ll kill your grass.

What is trash? Trash doesn’t look good, trash doesn’t smell good, and if left on your lawn, everyone will avoid you.

Okay, so maybe in that sense, trash and leaves aren’t painfully similar, but when you think of how you can dispose of them, the similarities arise.

You can recycle leaves, and you can recycle trash. Doing both of these things has a positive effect on the environment and on your image. In that sense, recycling trash – just like recycling leaves – presents an opportunity for businesses to be better.  Just like recycling leaves will save you money by saving your grass – recycling business waste helps a business save money by making waste streams greener and more efficient. But most business owners don’t see this, they’re too busy. You can help them, and make a green business opportunity out of streamlining business waste in a wide variety of industries.
Have you ever wanted to be your own boss and start a work at home business? Now’s your chance. The leaves are fragrant, the trash is pungent – and it’s time to cash in.

National Panini Month? Don’t Waste Your Food!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

So, August is National Panini Month. Don’t ask why, but apparently sometime last year Sargento Cheese declared that the entire month should be set aside to celebrate paninis. I won’t argue, paninis are delicious, but thinking about food gets me thinking about restaurants. And thinking about restaurants, gets me thinking about all the trash restaurants produce.

work at home business opportunity

what do sandwiches have to do with a green business opportunity?

Have you ever driven behind a restaurant? If you have, chances are you’ve seen a large green dumpster filled to the brim with uneaten food, spoiled ingredients, old napkins, and much  more. Restaurants create a serious amount of waste.

Think about it, when you cook at home – whether you’re making paninis to celebrate ‘panini month’ or a scrambled egg— it’s hard not to make a mess, and quite  a lot can get thrown away. Now multiply that so that you’re cooking and cleaning  after hundreds of people every day, and the full-to-the-brim dumpster doesn’t seem all that out of place.

But what do you think a restaurant would say if they could save money by recycling instead? Especially in an economy like ours, businesses are always looking for ways to save money. If you can shift your perspective just a little bit, you can go from seeing all the delicious paninis a restaurant is making for ‘panini month’ to all the trash they create.

Actually that wouldn’t make going to restaurant’s very fun would it? Instead, you can keep seeing all the delicious food. However, at the same time you’ll also be able to see and understand all the opportunities for restaurants to recycle better and save more. For you, it’s a fantastic new green business opportunity, for restaurants, it’s a chance to go green, make a difference, and save some money. It’s actually really simple.

If you’re like me – you love the independence of a work at home business, and recycling is the perfect opportunity to work at home and make a difference at the same time. Here’s one of the perks: I am going to get up, right now, and order a panini.

Do You Repurpose? There’s a Green Opportunity at Every Corner

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Many times, we find ourselves throwing things away piece by piece, only to realize minutes later, “Hey! I could have used that.” It seems like it happens all the time. Either you realize it right away or find a purpose for something you threw away weeks ago and think to yourself “I wish I hadn’t wasted that…” So, what do you use every day that could be reused a little more?

Here are some examples…

earn more by recycling with a green business opportunity

Ever notice all the things we throw away? You can earn more with a green business opportunity focused on recycling

•    Plastic silverware
•    Plastic water bottles
•    Plastic restaurant containers
•    Milk cartons
•    Cardboard boxes
•    Computer paper
•    Newspaper
•    And the list goes on…

What’s the common theme with all of the items in the above list? Not only are they things we can often find a use for in our day to day lives, but even if we can’t, they’re all widely recyclable and they’re all frequently wasted. Look in just about any trashcan (just don’t get caught – you might get funny looks) and you’ll see at least a couple of these things.

Either way, the items above are 7 things (called to mind in under a minute) that simply go to show how often we waste and throw away “trash” that actually has some sort of value – and that is where aspiring businessmen and women can hone in on a real business opportunity with (literally) loads of potential.

Every day, business throw items just like these away. Sometimes by the dumpster full, and every time they do it they throw away money.  That’s not to say that they should be encouraging employees to reuse their plastic silverware. But it simply proves that every recyclable has some sort of value.

Instead of simply throwing things away, businesses can treat recyclables very much like an individual would reuse a plastic container.  It’s all about seeing the value, and that’s where you can take advantage and be your own boss with a green business opportunity. Show businesses where they can save for nothing, earn a percentage of the savings, and be your own boss.

Another cause to celebrate (and recycle): the 4th of July

fourth of july

You can use the 4th of july as inspiration for a new business opportunity

Before perhaps anything else, the month of July almost always brings to mind one specific event, with fireworks, parades, barbecues, picnics, parties, and more. That’s right, you don’t need to be told – it’s the 4th of July.

July 4th marks the day in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was approved, separating the United States from Great Britain. But you knew that….

The 4th represents a number of opportunities to recycle more efficiently – and they’re all opportunities our affiliates can adapt to a larger scale to help businesses recycle and save.

Think for an instance about the large groups of people you might be accommodating over the weekend. They’re bound to be creating a lot of trash, and chances are they also might not be recycling it – that’s an opportunity to make an impact by recycling.  Or maybe look at the way you serve your guests.  Did you plan on using plastic containers that you were just going to throw away?  Instead, consider reusing them – and reclaim the value of those recyclables instead of throwing them away and saying goodbye to their value forever.

You might ask, what does this have to do with helping businesses save?  To be honest, more than you think. As we’ve said before, it all comes down to perspective. With the right perspective, you can help a business save hundreds (if not thousands) every month by identifying the source of their waste.  In the case of your party, sources of waste were guests who didn’t recycle and wastefully throwing away reusable materials.  In the same way, businesses can save by finding more ways to recycle and repurpose their materials.  Whether it’s internally or through a materials exchange program – the opportunities are there, and they’re ripe for a work at home business affiliates to take advantage of.

So, what are you doing for the 4th of July?

Taking Full Advantage of Everything: The Business Opportunity in the Environment

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Recently, a friend and I took a trip to an environmental center not too far away. Upon pulling into the driveway for the place which labeled itself a conservation center, there was really nothing out of the ordinary about it. It was a big brown building, with a gravel parking lot, surrounded by trees. Pretty plain.

green business opportunity

Widen your perspective, profit, and work at home -- all with recycling better.

However, as we entered the building – that’s when everything changed. First, one of us noticed the bathrooms. Instead of regular toilets with pipes full of water leading away from the building, each toilet had a single hole – and it’s a stretch not to refer to them as indoor outhouses. Outside the bathrooms was a sign explaining that the bathrooms helped provide energy for the whole building. Under that sign was a trashcan with an empty bottom—it leads to a furnace. That’s right – they burned it for energy.

Next, we noticed these huge large columns of water reaching from floor to ceiling, spaced throughout the main hall. According to someone working there – they were used to make heating and cooling the building more efficient.

Our minds were officially blown. Never before had I seen a business make the absolute most of virtually every aspect of their business. They had completely minimized business waste and converted it into value wherever possible. It was the perfect example for someone taking advantage of a work at home business such as that of a business waste consultant.

Looking at one business that can completely streamline almost all of their business waste, the possibilities are more than just encouraging.  If businesses can emulate that one business to even the smallest degree – the amount of savings would be tremendous. If the recycling programs aren’t in place – all it takes is a little creativity, and it doesn’t even need to be that complicated. I’m not saying convert your toilets into pits or install bottomless furnace trashcans—but pay more attention to recycling, and it will pay.

EWS affiliates who work as independent waste consultants can easily go to any business and help identify areas to recycle better and save. If one business can do it in practically every way possible – it’s clear that the possibilities are far from limited. So why not try? Take advantage of a work from home business opportunity today, help a business save, and earn more than you ever thought you could.

Apples to Apples, Opportunity to Opportunity: The Business Opportunity in Recycling

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

A week ago I drove past a blossoming apple orchard.  Now, I typically don’t start thinking of apple picking, apple cider, or apple pie until the fall, but as I was driving by it brought my attention to how resourceful apple orchards are and how their example could inspire other businesses to do the same. Not only did this remind me about how businesses can save, but it also reminded me about how effective a work at home business opportunity based on waste can be. work at home business opportunity

When an apple has fallen on the ground, most orchards don’t pick it up and throw it into the garbage.  Instead, they may allow it to stay on the ground for the surrounding wildlife to feast on or simply leave it there to decompose into the ground, fertilizing the soil for the next growing season.

Now orchards are also resourceful with the apples on the trees.  By the end of the apple season, orchards are sure to have used up all the leftover apples by turning them into hot apple cider, candy apples, or that warm apple pie we all enjoy after a big Thanksgiving dinner.
When it comes down to it, Orchards are truly able to profit from every single apple on and off the trees – in one way or another.  Is your business doing the same?  Think of all the employees that are working in the corporate world.   Throughout the day there is a lot of paper being printed out, plastic bottles of water being used, plastic bags and containers being used to carry lunches, and Styrofoam cups of coffee used to keep the busy people awake throughout the work day.  If your company is already recycling, then kudos to you…you are making more profit and saving more money.  You’re being resourceful, and you’re also helping keep the environment become a better place for all of us.
If a business doesn’t have a recycling plan, it’s likely that it’s wasting money.  But then again, businesses don’t always know how to recycle in their given industry. That’s where EWS affiliates come in. Environmental Waste Solutions trains every affiliate to know the recycling industry inside out. So maybe a business can’t recycle as easily as an apple orchard. But it’s likely that there’s a way they can save, it’s just a matter of someone pointing it out.

So the next time you’re apple picking with your family, drinking hot apple cider, or eating a delicious piece of apple pie, think of the many ways you can make use of the resources around you. The apple pie you’re eating or the apple cider you’re drinking could have simply been thrown away and wasted forever – but it wasn’t.  With that in mind, think about how resourceful you could help a business be with a work at home business opportunity like that of an EWS affiliates.

The Month of June, a Month of Reminders: Watch Some Baseball and Be Your Own Boss

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

If you turn the TV on practically any night in June, you’re likely to catch some baseball. No matter what part of the country you’re in, if you’re flipping through channels – you’re going to see it, it’s unavoidable. So, whether you like baseball or not, why not take a second and consider all of the trash in those stadiums.

work from home business

Work from home, no matter where that may be!

If you’ve ever been to a professional baseball game, or even a little league game for that matter, you’ll know that trash is everywhere. From the beer cups and the hot dog wrappers to the popcorn boxes and bags of peanuts. Trash is everywhere, and there’s a good chance that a lot of it can be recycled.

Shift back to the professional sports stadium and imagine the obscene amount of waste that must be piled into dumpsters and trash cans at the end of the night.  Now, think about how much money could be saved on hauling it all away if only a waste consultant approached stadium management. If a baseball stadium has subpar recycling, just think about how many other untapped markets there are just waiting for motivated entrepreneurs to make a difference with a simple business opportunity.

In the past, EWS affiliates taking advantage of a work at home business opportunity have done something very similar, approaching small, medium, and large businesses with the realistic promise of actually saving up to thousands of dollars by recycling more effectively every month.

The plastic alone that’s thrown away from a professional sporting event could provide enough power to give energy to many of the televisions that are actually watching the game. That’s how effective recycling can be. So why not give it a shot? For affiliates, businesses, and communities – the only result can be positive.  In the end, what was once an overflowing dumpster can transform into savings, a cleaner environment,  a home business opportunity, and everyone involved making a difference.
Where else do you see trash going to waste?

Take a Look Around: There’s A Business Opportunity in Every Trashcan

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

I recently found myself on a trip that involved airports, train stations, coffee shops, and restaurants.  While traveling, I observed that recycling almost altogether stopped once I stepped outside the airport.  It was actually really difficult to find an opportunity to recycle. Surprising right?  Walking through the city, I decided to amuse myself and quickly glanced into one of the city trashcans—mind you, I was only glancing.  Within 3 seconds I s

aw 4 plastic bottles, a couple crumpled up newspapers, and handfuls of paper.  And that was just the top layer!

Now, I understand that if recycling is not made easy for individuals, they aren’t going to think twice about throwing away their daily newspaper or cup of coffee into the plain old trash.  This made me think, if the city trashcans aren’t supporting recycling, are the restaurants and other businesses in the surrounding area doing the same?  Still wondering about it, I decided to enter a local café for a sandwich and answer my own question.

While sitting down, enjoying the view and my lunch, I realized that I had about 7 things that were recyclable and nowhere to recycle them! Therefore, the paper my delicious sandwich was wrapped in, my paper napkin, plastic fork, plastic knife, plastic spoon (all which came wrapped in my napkin and were unnecessary for me to eat my sandwich) plastic bottle of water, and bag of chips were all sadly going into the trash with all the other recyclable items.  Now if I alone had 7 items that could have been recycled, how many more were there in the entire café?

So the next time you walk downtown and see trashcans loaded with debris or maybe when you’re sitting in a café enjoying a meal, think about recycling.  Could some of that trash eventually have been recycled into something more?  Could that business have saved money and contributed to a cleaner environment?  Those are all business opportunities that someone could capitalize on—and many businesses don’t even realize that they could be saving money on their waste disposal by recycling instead.

The opportunities are out there for independent waste consultants to help businesses clean up their waste streams and save….it’s only a matter of seeing them.

We like Things Easy: Make Recycling Easy and See the Opportunity

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Easy as pie, easy money, easy does it, easy going – just a few examples from a long list of clichés that prove that we love when things are easy.  All the time, we marvel at the people in our lives that ceaselessly make things difficult or lament the things in our day to day that stand in the way of an “easy” day.   Then again, if things were always easy, would we learn anything? When things are easy, they allow us to move on and take care of everything seamlessly – but when things are just a little difficult—when there’s even the slightest bump in the road, we learn new ways to adapt and overcome.

work from home business opportunity

Earn more with a business opportunity based on waste -- and you can do it from your own home. (Just don't interpret it like this person did!)

So what about recycling and business opportunities? Often, businesses learn the hard way that recycling isn’t always easy. Maybe this lesson comes in the form of having to pay for an expensive clean up or maybe it’s just the sudden realization that your business has been wasting money.  Either way, recycling doesn’t need to be hard, and it doesn’t have to be an obstacle. In fact, it can be easy – and it can make life for a business much easier as well.

Over the years, Environmental Waste Solutions has approached businesses with one goal – to make things easier. Our affiliates have thrived with work at home businesses centered on giving businesses the key to saving money without having to cut costs, cut jobs, or scale back. To do that – they’ve done one thing: make recycling easier, and it’s a work at home business opportunity that truly works.

You already know that the average person is much more inclined to do something the easy way than the hard way, so if you can show businesses a free and easy way to save money and deal with business waste – it’s only natural that it would be an easy service to pitch. This is the reality that thousands of EWS affiliates live with every day – and it’s easy! So why not take advantage?
