Recycling in Our Day to Day: A Business Opportunity in Itself

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

A few days ago I went to lunch with my friend.  While enjoying each other’s company over a good soup and salad combo at our favorite restaurant, I began to wonder if he was aware of how resourceful he is with everything he does throughout his day-to-day life.  I knew by asking him to list off all the items he consumed on the previous day I was going to get a strange look and would have to explain myself – but I knew the little experiment would be worth it.

By realizing the magnitude of waste, you can seriously earn more.

Just as I felt that awkward pause we’re all so fond of and noticed a quizzical smirk—I knew precisely what would be said next, “you want me to do what?”   After some minor persuasion – perhaps in the form of a drink on me – he finally agreed and told me what he had for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between.

• Breakfast: eggs (last ones in the carton) and an individual cup of yogurt
• Mid-morning: Styrofoam cup filled with coffee
• Lunch: homemade sandwich brought in a plastic bag, bag of chips, and bottle of water
• Mid-day: apple
• Dinner: steak, salad, and 2 bottles of beer

Now here comes the reasoning to my bizarre question and a reason why recycling can be essential to a work at home business opportunity.  Out of everything my friend ate throughout the day, how much of it was recyclable? Obviously not everything was, but looking through his list, I can see that there are at least 8 things that could have been recycled.

Too often we don’t think twice about what we put into our trashcans.  We don’t realize how much money goes into our waste baskets.  It is like the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.  If you look into your trash at work, you might not find a lot of treasure – but you will find recyclables, and that has value.  By recycling, companies will be able to save money and contribute to a healthier environment. So, it’s really an easy sell.

Every day, EWS affiliates approach business and, essentially say: “I can save you money, at absolutely no cost out of pocket by helping you recycle better.”  Sure, it’s painfully simple. But it’s also painfully effective. So why wait? Have you ever wanted your own work at home business? Maybe recycling is the answer.

The Incentive in Recycling: It Can Lead to a Great Business Opportuniy

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Company’s across the country are offering and being offered incentives for recycling.  Not only are larger companies rewarding their individual departments for recycling better – but city and state governments are going so far as to offer companies incentives simply for having less of an impact on the environment. While recycling is beginning to come with more rewards and incentives than a credit card offer – how efficient are we being when it comes to actually recycling?

Over the years we’ve learned that people are not recycling as well as they think they are or they simply don’t know that they can do much more.  What’s even better is that they can do more, much easier.  But the best part is that they they can do much more and save money while their at it.  Let’s face it, everyone is excited to recycle – and we can’t blame them.  But too many businesses jump the gun and do too little too fast, just because they don’t know any better.

About 15 years ago, Environmental Waste Solutions began with businesses and the environment in mind.  We wanted to make a difference and we wanted to make a good living at the same time.  Thankfully, not only have our founders been able to do just that, but we’ve been able to help affiliates across the country do the very same thing with an amazingly helpful business opportunity.

First we researched how to better recycle, then we found where we could put what we learned into action.  We’re well aware that people recycle in their homes, but the scale just wasn’t right.  Many households already recycle. But what we realized was that businesses are creating waste every day.  Every business, every department, and every employee creates more and more waste every day – and we were sure it adds up.

Today, by approaching businesses across the country, we’ve helped them save without spending  anything out of pocket. While those businesses save, the EWS affiliate earns half of what is saved – leaving both parties (and the environment) better off in the end.

Consider the Facts and Think About the Green Business Opportunity in Recycling

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Recycling is here to stay, and anyone even trying to suggest that recycling isn’t valuable would be incredibly wrong on a number of counts.  Recycling is valuable in more ways than I can even attempt to do justice to in one post.  Even still, consider these facts:

•    Hundreds of paper mills in the USA use at least a portion of recovered materials to manufacture new paper products.
•    More than 200 paper mills produce paper products entirely from recycled materials
•    More than half of office paper is recovered for recycling

shutterstock 1443953 300x225 Consider the Facts and Think About the Green Business Opportunity in Recycling green business

There is Money in Recycle. Claim it by taking advantage of a green business opportunity.

•    More than 1.5 million tons of construction materials are manufactured every year from paper products
•    Recycling aluminum cans drastically decreases the loss of raw materials
•    There is no limit to the number of times aluminum can be recycled
•    The Aluminum Foundation reports that during a 12 week program, over 105 million beverage cans were recycled, earning over $2.3 million for charities.
•    In America we use 4 million plastic bottles an hour and most of them are thrown away. Have you ever thought about how many plastic products there are?

With just a few of these facts in mind, it becomes extremely clear that the value of waste does not end at the trash can or the dumpster.  Business waste such as paper, plastic, and metal all have value even after they appears to have served their purpose, and they can contribute immensely when it comes down to a great green business opportunity.

Environmental Waste Solutions affiliates are trained to spot the opportunity and trash and turn it into savings, earning money in the process.  Across the country, EWS affiliates have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by simply looking at trash a little differently and seeing it within the context of a green business opportunity that makes a difference in many ways.  As you can see – the value is there, so why not act on it and cash in?

Good Ideas Only Go So Far: Recycle Better, Earn More

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Chances are you have quite a few good ideas.  Good ideas are things we always hold onto, they’re things we cherish, but unfortunately they’re also too often paired with a lack of followthrough that ensures that they remain “ideas” and “concepts” and never really become reality.  We have ideas for businesses, ideas for websites, and simple ideas for things around the house that we imagine completed and brilliant but never quite usher along to that point.

Well, Environmental Waste Solutions is happy to provide a home business opportunity that takes a great idea and easily shifts it from a nice concept to a profitable reality –  and it’s all because of waste.

Whether you’ve been reading for months or have only recently stumbled upon our blog, it doesn’t take a lot to know that recycling has come to the forefront of our society as of late.  More households are recycling, sure.  But the business world has reached a point where you simply can’t get away with sloppy waste management.  Not only can it land businesses in a world of legal hurt, but it can mean wasting thousands of dollars a month on inefficient waste management.

That’s where EWS affiliates come into play.  First there was the idea that businesses could save money with better recycling.  Then there was the reality that individual business owners could be trained to approach businesses and practically offer them thousands of dollars every month that they didn’t know they were throwing away. It’s easy to understand, and it’s just as easy to put into practice. So why not give it a shot?

The Waste We Make: A Look Back at Waste and How Recycling Can be a Work From Home Business Opportunity

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

A couple days ago the blog post was about the waste the average non-recycling person creates every day to illustrate the sheer potential there is in a home business centered around business waste..  I made a note of everything I threw away for a whole day.  Here’s an abbreviated list.

•    Empty tube of toothpaste
•    Coffee filter
•    Coffee grounds
•    8 Sugar packets
•    Empty bottle of coffee creamer
•    2 Styrofoam cups
•    Yogurt cup
•    Plastic spoon
•    Plastic fork
•    Plastic knife
•    Plastic Bag
•    Bottle of water
•    Bag of chips
•    Granola bar wrapper
•    11 Printed pages and the ink to print them
•    4 paper towels
•    Empty carton of milk
•    Leftover food
•    Empty bag of vegetables
•    Empty can of corn
•    Packaging from chicken
•    Empty glass spice bottle
•    2 Beer bottles
•    1 Bag of popcorn

Now that’s quite the pile of trash…all of it simply thrown away and forgotten.  But in some way, every single bit of trash I listed could have been disposed of in a better, safer, and more cost efficient way.  Considering this single day’s worth of waste one individual produced, think about an entire business and how much waste it’s many individuals could collectively create.

Without recycling, that’s a lot of opportunity gone to waste.  But it’s also where Environmental Waste Solutions affiliates come in.  With the sheer amount of waste a single business can produce, the cost involved becomes painfully obvious if action isn’t taken to save on waste management.

By approaching businesses with the simple knowledge of how to make the most of business waste, and how save thousands of dollars whenever it comes time to pay for waste management, EWS affiliates profit every month.

Recycling is Easy– No matter Where you are.

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

In a recent story on Guardian.co.uk titled “Ethiopia firm recycling tyres into shoes does big business via internet” we learned that recycling really is possible anywhere,  it can be done with much more than you think it can be, and it can even be creative and lucrative.  An entrepreneur in Ethiopia named Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu has taken the initiative to recycle old truck tires and turn them into fashionable footwear to be sold all over the world.   Since starting her  own home business named soleRebels, Bethlehem’s widespread success can be almost entirely attributed to willpower, know how, and you guessed it— recycling.

What we love about this story is the fact that those are exactly the same traits that make a successful EWS affiliate.  The willpower to succeed, the recycling know how taught by Environmental Waste Solutions, and the opportunity inherent in recycling.  By embracing all of those qualities for the last 15 years, EWS affiliates across the country have been able to find success for themselves by taking full advantage of recycling.

This story of one businesswoman in Ethiopia simply proves that recycling can be a key not only to greener business and greener lives, but greater success for businesses of all kinds, no matter where they are. You don’t have to be doing anything like making shoes from recycled rubber tires or designer dresses from recycled shopping bags.  It can be as easy as taking a closer look at business waste so see the truth– that recycling can help you take advantage.

A special season

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

First the snow melts, and before you can really begin to enjoy it you begin noticing the piles of leaves and the long dead grass that’s been kept hidden all winter by snow. Then, moving inside you begin to notice all the things that have been accumulating in your home all year. First there are old clothes, then you notice remnants of the holidays, and of course there’s the garage….and the list goes on. Sadly, all you can think to yourself is, “there’s definitely work to be done.”

At Home Business Opportunities
Well sometimes businesses need to do a little spring cleaning too. First of all, as we’ve all seen—things do tend to accumulate over time. Remain busy with something, with anything, whether it’s tending to a family or a manufacturing plant and you’ll know that you can avoid it. Something is bound to fall by the wayside, and when you’re constantly focused on a specific aspect of business—effective waste management is often the easiest thing to ignore and first thing to go out the window. That’s why EWS affiliates are trained and eager to be the “spring cleaning” that any business can take advantage of to clean up shop, save a little money, and go green all at once.
Think of it this way. EWS affiliates across the country have had no problem convincing their clients that there isn’t a better deal. It’s like offering to do someone else’s spring cleaning for them. You just get to keep half of the stuff they would have thrown away!

A little certainty is always a good thing

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

With the economy continuing to lag and an air of uncertainty hovering over many industries, everyone doesn’t quite know what to think. Where are we going? What are we going to do? What’s going to change? How will things be in a few years? Or how will things even be a couple of months from now? The fact is that we can’t always know, and the questions that arise are not always comfortable ones. Either way, as much as we would like to know everything, uncertainty is always something that we will have to deal with. But there is one thing we can be sure about, and that’s trash.

At Home Business Opportunities
EWS affiliates and their clients need not fear. First, both affiliates and clients can be sure that trash will always be an issue in business. Additionally, with the environment continuing to become a global concern, recycling will also continue to become more and more important. But what does that mean? It means that the motivation and incentive to recycle won’t go anywhere, and the businesses will always be able to save money by recycling instead of haphazardly hauling their waste away.
Regardless of how businesses might worry about the economy, EWS affiliates will always be able to deliver a little bit of certainty to their clients through better recycling, and clients will always be able to count on saving money. So even though there may be an overabundance of that little feeling we like to call uncertainty, remember – as strange as it may sound—that you can always depend on trash (and EWS of course!).

Conservation couldn’t be easier!

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Businesses across the country are coming to terms with the fact that resources, in every sense of the word, don’t grow on trees—except maybe paper. For instance, colleges and universities all over have learned that many times, people consume without even thinking about it. Consider the article you printed this morning, the emails you printed off and promised to read over lunch, or the bank statements that you end up reading online and never opening when the hardcopy arrives in the mail. Examples like these just show that we don’t even think twice about consuming when we might not even need to.

At Home Business Opportunities

For instance, colleges and universities across the country have introduced print management systems to, hopefully, reign in on the amount of ink and paper that are used. On a number of levels, initiatives like this both save money and the environment. By conserving paper, fewer acres of our valuable forests need to be cut down and less energy must be used to process the raw materials to produce the actual paper. As for ink, conservation also reduces the emissions created and the energy spent in the production and actual use of the ink.

When it comes down to it, the facts are clear. Sure, managing elements of business such as paper and ink consumption are simple and easily implemented measures to help the environment. However, it’s also important to remember that conservation is as valuable as it is green. While the price of a ream of paper may seem cheap, it can surely add up. Every single sheet is money spent, and that means that every wasted sheet is money thrown away forever. While ink cartridges are more expensive, the same relationship exists. You can’t recycle used ink, and every drop wasted is cents thrown into the waste basket.

EWS affiliates operating all over the country are capable of helping businesses realize the potential in waste. While their focus may not be paper and ink, we’ve all experienced and taken part in the waste that takes place in the office. By locating the sources of waste and cutting inefficiency off at the source, EWS can help businesses keep more money while doing their part for the environment.

Imagine a world…

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Imagine a world where there is no such thing as recycling. Most businesses think nothing of frequently hauling their waste to a landfill, where it’s destined to sit. Without the impact of recycling the landfill is virtually overflowing with business waste that will do nothing but sit there in piles. Save for the occasional thrifty homeowner or businessperson, there are no programs to make use of the waste so that is what it stays—waste. Other businesses make the choice to burn their waste, sending fumes into the air that slowly eat away at the atmosphere and even more just dump it wherever they can.

At Home Business Opportunities

Can you imagine what the world would be like if this was the approach to waste management we use today? Can you picture the pollution or imagine the cost? Sure, it may not be expensive to dump waste wherever you please, but the long term costs involved would be even greater than the environmental threats that we’re facing today. A world without recycling would mean tremendous costs, an environment that’s even more crippled than what we’re already faced with, and waste across the board in the form of trash and in the money that businesses would burn up, haul away, and cast aside.

Thankfully, we live in a world with recycling. As a society we’ve seen the negative effects of a world that takes waste for granted. Even still, businesses all over throw away money by looking at their waste as worthless. In reality, it can not only be valuable but it can make a significant impact as well. EWS affiliates see this and profit from it by convincing business owners that the dumpster is not always the end of the line. For affiliates, a win-win situation is not a hard bargain to sell. Not only are businesses eager to save money, but the concept of helping the environment through recycling is extremely attractive as well.

We live in a world with recycling, so why not take full advantage of it?
